Simple Podi Idli Recipe – Super Healthy Snack

Podi idly/idli is a quick and healthy snack/tiffin prepared from idli. It can be prepared in minutes. Podi idli with hot cup of chai makes a perfect snack for this rainy and cold evening.

Check other idli recipes….. idli, shallow fried idli, jackruit-foxtail millet idli, vermicelli idli and moong dal idli.

INGREDIENTS 

  1. Idli – 5
  2. Onion – 1
  3. Idli/dosa powder – 1 1/2 tbsp
  4. Curry leaves – 2 sprigs

PROCEDURE 

  1. Cut the idli into small cubes. Keep it aside.               
  2. Heat oil in a kadai.                                            
  3. Add curry leaves.                     
  4. Add finely chopped onions to it. Saute till it becomes golden brown.               
  5. Now, add idli/dosa powder.                                        
  6. Finally, add the cubed idli pieced to it.                                              
  7. Mix well to coat the idli/dosa powder to the idli pieces. Fry it for (1-2) minutes.            
  8. Serve hot.

NOTE 

  1. If not preferred onions can be avoided.
  2. Idli cubes can be fried in oil prior to get crispy and tasty podi idli.
  3. The quantity of idli/dosa powder can be altered depending on the spiciness of the powder.
  4. I have not added salt to the onion as the idli and chutney powder has salt in it. If required, little salt can be added.
