ONION COCONUT CHUTNEY

Onion coconut chutney will sound different to all. This is a very simple chutney and we can prepare in few minutes. I got this recipe from my grandmother. When we are bored of doing usual chutneys we wanted to try something different. In that case we can try this chutney.

INGREDIENTS

  1. Big onion/onion shallots – (1-2)/(8-10)
  2. Tomato – (1-2)
  3. Coconut – (2-3) pieces
  4. Roasted gram – 1/2 tbsp
  5. Red chili – 3
  6. Curry leaves – 2 sprig
  7. Salt – 1/2 tsp

FOR TEMPERING

  1. Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
  2. Split urad dal – 1/2 tsp
  3. Red chili – 1
  4. Curry leaves – 1 sprig

PROCEDURE

  1. Add all the items given under ‘INGREDIENTS’ in a mixer grinder.
  2. Grind it into a paste.
  3. Transfer it in a bowl.

FOR TEMPERING

  1. Heat oil in a kadai.
  2. Add mustard seeds to it.
  3. When it splutters add split urad dal.
  4. Once the urad dal turns light brown add red chili and curry leaves to it.
  5. Pour the tempering over the seasoning.
