Onion coconut chutney will sound different to all. This is a very simple chutney and we can prepare in few minutes. I got this recipe from my grandmother. When we are bored of doing usual chutneys we wanted to try something different. In that case we can try this chutney.
INGREDIENTS
- Big onion/onion shallots – (1-2)/(8-10)
- Tomato – (1-2)
- Coconut – (2-3) pieces
- Roasted gram – 1/2 tbsp
- Red chili – 3
- Curry leaves – 2 sprig
- Salt – 1/2 tsp
FOR TEMPERING
- Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Split urad dal – 1/2 tsp
- Red chili – 1
- Curry leaves – 1 sprig
PROCEDURE
- Add all the items given under ‘INGREDIENTS’ in a mixer grinder.
- Grind it into a paste.
- Transfer it in a bowl.
FOR TEMPERING
- Heat oil in a kadai.
- Add mustard seeds to it.
- When it splutters add split urad dal.
- Once the urad dal turns light brown add red chili and curry leaves to it.
- Pour the tempering over the seasoning.
