Curd plantain stem is a different dish and a typical SOURASHTRA DISH. This dish cools our body. The curd and plantain stem gives many benefits to our body. This dish is taught by my grandmother to my mom. My mom taught me this. This is my favorite dish. Many of the sourashtra people also forgot this dish. I did this to my in-laws. They all liked this too. The best combination of this dish is IDLI.
It is a dish with less oil and also has varies benefits
1.Plantain stem – 1 medium sized
2.Curd – 1 cup
3.Green chili – 1
4.Curry leaves – 1 sprig
5.Salt – 1 tsp
6.Hing – 1/2 tsp
1.Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
2.Split urad dal – 2 tsp
3.Onion shallots/Big onion – (6-8)/1(medium sized)
4.Red chili – (1-2)
5.Curry leaves – 1 sprig
1.Chop the plantain stem and green chili.
2.Mix the all the items given under ingredients in a bowl.
3.Allow the mixture to soak well overnight .
4.The curd will be absorbed well by the plantain stem.
Tempering should be done next day.
1.Heat oil in a kadai.
2.Add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
3.Add urad dal to it.
4.Once the urad dal turns golden brown add chopped onion.
5.When onion is cooked well add red chili and curry leaves.
6.Saute it for few seconds and pour the tempering over the curd-plantain mixture.
1.Adjust the seasoning as per the taste.
2.As we don’t cook the plantain stem it will be little crunchy.
3.The curd will be absorbed by the plantain stem well and doesn’t give a uncooked feeling.
4.While chopping the plantain stem put the chopped pieces in water else the plantain stem may turn brown color.
Enjoy the curd plantain stem with idli. It will be delicious and divine.
